Gorgojos: AKA Weevils. It's what's for therapy.

Well, I have been doing this for 8 days.  I didn't blog on this before today because I just didn't think to do it!  I haven't really seen the effects to report – however, according to others that have done this treatment, it does take some time for your body to get acclimated to it for the effects to be known.  I'll give you a little background and then some useful info for those who are looking to get more info in the US.

The long and short of this "therapy" is:  this particular type of weevil creates an enzyme that stimulates your immune system and lowers the pain level in those that have illness.  That is not a Dr. given opinion but from all the info that I looked at - that's the consensus of the "treatment" from testimonies of individuals who are taking them.

I was introduced to this by my mother who is a long time Systemic Lupus patient (over 10 years), and as of July 2010 she was also diagnosed with stomach cancer.  My mother turned to alternative medicine because the doctors told her after extensive tests that she cannot undergo surgery to remove the cancer, nor could she receive external treatments because of her Lupus.  Her Lupus is so out of control since she was diagnosed with cancer; her organs are constantly swollen (which prevents surgery).  So basically they told her to go home and there was nothing they could do.

In any case, she is still suffering from the pain.  Mom’s a fighter and hates to be doped up on predezone or morphine which are the kind of drugs the Dr.’s are giving her to control the pain.  One day, her cousin called her up and told her that there was this alternative therapy that was going around called Coleoterapia.  Mom’s cousin suggested “why not take the Weevils?” and then told my mom about another Lupus patient who is now in remission (which she believes is )from taking the Weevils, my mom didn’t hesitate to try them – even if at the minimum it helps her with the pain or gives her energy.  The woman who had the Lupus sent my mom some of her Weevils.  So mom started on them - not realizing how hard it was to come by these bugs - and after 3 weeks, she ran out!  By the 3rd week of taking them, her thinking was clearer, she had more good days of less pain; she was getting bursts of energy, etc.  My mother and father were looking like crazy for more bugs, but nobody had them!  The only place you could get them is from Puerto Rico or some other country.  My mom needed them right away.  In the habitat that she originally received, what she didn’t know is that there were eggs in the oats (part of the habitat).  Anyone who knows my mom knows that she can grow anything….so after a few weeks (and back to debilitating pain) she realized they were alive and she started scouring the internet for how to grow these bugs.  LOOONG story short – she now has a complete farm with over 2000 bugs and who knows how many eggs and so on….

So when I came from out of state for a visit – I was like whatever helps I support.  By the time I arrived, she had several bugs but not enough had grown just yet for her to start a regimen – so when she DID start….she got me on them.  I mean it didn’t take convincing; although eating live bugs was not in my realm of consciousness when I arrived at her house lol but I figured “that which don’t kill me, can only make me stronger”.  I mean if it improves the quality of my life and strengthens my bond with my mom then that’s good enough for me.

Now, I’m a healthy woman in terms of blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.  I have never had major “health” issues – except my body does generate calcium deposits.  I had them when I was a kid and the doctors had no idea what to make of them so when they removed a couple from me and realized it was a huge cluster of calcium.  The Doctors decided to just leave the remaining deposits in my body so long as they weren’t harming me.  The biggest disruption the calcium deposits have caused was about 17 years ago when I was a Jr. in High School.   I had a calcium cluster growing in between my saliva glands where my facial nerves run through – and it grew at an alarming rate.  It was irritating my face, I couldn’t sleep on that side of my face and I was even twitching from the nerve irritation.  The Dr.’s said it had to come out!  Other than that I currently have 3 that I’m aware of – so taking these bugs: I mean if it helps that issue in my body, then awesome!  If it doesn’t well I’m not going to lose sleep!  Helping the immune system over all was my goal.

Now it is Ironic that when I started writing this blog this morning around 10AM I was just waking up, chatting with my folks  and deciding what I am going to do for the day.  I can honestly say that I have so much energy even now, that I feel like I’ve had 5 cups of coffee and I’ve only had one since 10am and it’s currently 2pm….coincidence?  Let’s see how I feel tomorrow….which is why I’m starting this blog about my experience.  Over the next several weeks as I take these I’m going to track what I’m feeling or not feeling and also giving you some links to other free information – which, by the way are mostly in Spanish!  English information is hard to come by so I’ll see what I can do about translating – Google only does so much.  If you have questions or comments please feel free to share!!

  9. My Dad gave me a handful of gorojos to cultivate but I'm having a problem getting them to multiply. I'm giving them organic oats and whole grain bread. Is there something I can do to speed this up. I've had them for months now. They seem to do better in cooler temps but not cold temps. Can anyone help? Any tips? Thanks in advance, April

    1. My mom also puts banana peel. I'm not sure if that would help.

    2. They need banana peel, that's their water supply. Also carrots. Do not remove the banana peel until it is really really dry.

    3. Hi Tiffany, at first we didn't like the banana peel because it contaminated the oatmeal bed and the bread with mold... But, what I've noticed over the past month is that the weevils (gorgojo is weevil in Spanish) congregate around the banana peel... meaning that that is where they are reproducing... However, I noticed today that they were leaving the banana peel for the slice of apple that they had ignored for a month... So, I sliced more apple...

    4. April, I found that they didn't multiply in cold temps... Now it seems they are happy; Spring-like weather in Guadalajara, Mexico... As for prefering cooler weather... Although the gorgojo movement began in Argentina (a region of the country I believe is cool and arid), the "movement" supposedly is strongest in the hot and humid Gulf of Mexico state of Veracruz where my mother-in-law lives (and who was given them by some nuns who live in the community). In her community they are using Gorgojos for Diabetes... My wife asked my brother-in-laws to bring them to Guadalajara and here we are cultivating them... After a hiatus of at least a month because they weren't reproducing... (and now are)... I am up to 29.

    5. They get their water from lettuce, try that instead of banana peel or carrots.

  14. I'm amazed at how many people are looking for Chinese Weevils/Gorgojo Chinos in the U.S. and in other countries... Fortunately, I live in Mexico where the movement has greatly taken off... However, I've noticed that in Mexico the government has begun persuing those who are sharing the gorgojos with others (meaning that someone doesn't want Mexicans to cure themselves without the "help" of Pharmaceutical companies)... I also noticed that the Argentinian man who began the movement has disconnected himself from the movement; his gorgojo page ceases being updated... What I find strange is that when I look for information on Gorgojo Chinos in English, this is the only page I encounter and the woman Patricia who created the page has also disconnected herself from it... The reason I write all of this is that I would like more information on the Weevils/Gorgojos and how they were discovered (the Argentinian man was introduced to them as a miracle cure by someone who magically appeared in his rural community). Now, if they are Chinese Weevils, do the Chinese use them as a cure? Is there a history? Don't worry that I am doubting. It's not about that. As I said, my mother-in-law and various other women are taken them in their very rural coffee cultivating community in Veracruz and I've heard the stories and I believe them. However, I would like to understand a little more about the weevils and how and why so many people are seeking them in the U.S. and other non Latin-American countries...

  15. Who is spreading the information? Oh, by the way, I am "American", born in Philadelphia, raised in central Jersey, educated in Amherst Mass., and spent my last 7 U.S. years in New York City... I would be the last person who would ingest "bugs"... but I do. As I wrote in my last post, today I am up to 29. It's amazing how one's perspectives can change... And, no, I don't have cancer and haven't been diagnosed with diabetes, although I have had 3 major preventative surgeries; Familial Adenamatous Polyposis/Gardners Syndrome (I fall into a very small and rare group of people in the U.S. with this hereditary problem. Being that the group is so small, little money is invested into research on the issue and the possibilities... It's a disease in waiting... Meaning that today I'm fine and tomorrow I may have Thyroid Cancer, Duodenal Cancer, Brain Cancer, Adrenal Gland cancer, ¨Pancreatic Cancer... I don't mention other cancers, because they aren't on the list and because I had my colon removed at the age of 13 and my rectum removed at the age of 31, 15 months before suddenly moving to Mexico... For me and for many others, one can not rely upon the doctors for taking their time out to listen to you and your concerns and think and research other options... As my wife said earlier today, "The doctors seem that they are just Pharmaceutical salespeople"... And that's what it seems they are... "Here's a prescription for your high blood pressure... Here's a prescription for your high cholesterol... You have gallstones... Why don't we remove the gallbladder? What? You don't have the money? Well, too bad!"

    ReplyDelete
  16. No, I didn't have the money for the gallbladder removal and also, they wouldn't be able to remove it easily with laproscopic surgery because of my scar tissue from the previous surgeries... I did researched alternative diets and 8 years later I still have the gallbladder but without gallstones... I lowered my BP without medication and gave the Cardiologist a kick in his ass... I lowered my cholesterol without medication and without eating salmon every day... However, I still have concerns because my "issue" is a black vein running through the center of my being and as of yet, no one has shown that we "FAPers" with these preventative surgeries live beyond the age of 60... My father died at the age of 34.. My cousin died of a brain tumor at that age of 16... My other cousin is full of desmoid tumors. My younger sister developed thyroid cancer 17 years ago at that age of 26... I tell my wife and my brothers-in-law that I don't believe I have more than 16 years left. So, I would like to know something more abou Gorgojos/Weevils... Nice meeting you and I hope you find what you are looking for... It's a shame that the Pharmaceutical companies have a vice grip on your and your loved-one's lives and comfort levels...

  23. Hello everyone. One of my employee's brought this bug to my attention because him and his mother are doing this treatment which according to his testimonies worked for his uncle who had cancer and is now in remission. My employee has diabetes and is also doing this in support of his mother. I have been researching this to see if this bug has been used to treat people with Epilepsy. My son is 15 and has Epilepsy and takes 1500 mg of Keppra XR everyday to control his seizures. Without the pills he is a hot mess. I hate the fact that I have to rely on a pill which I was against from day one and tried alternatives before giving him the pill. Does anyone know of any success stories with this bug for Epilepsy or Autism. My nephew has Autism and I would love to share this with my sister if it works.

rest 2 to 3 weeks before starting the next cycle
